riddle me this…

As I’m not posting any comics today, I thought I’d take a chance to answer any questions people might have. I’m doing this primarily because while I’m pretty good about responding to e-mails I receive about my comic strip, I am fucking HORRIBLE about answering comments

. I always feel guilty about it. I don’t find myself altogether interesting so I feel awkward when someone is genuinely curious about my teaching, my comics, or anything else.

For one day I will ignore my awkwardness. If you’ve got a question for me, post it in the comments and I’ll do my level best to answer it. There will be a prize for best question.

  1. My husband and I have been reading your journal for many years. I remember the first chewie comics. The ones about meeting Ellen. I was excited for your marriage and the children. Does it make you feel awkward that people are invested in your family and cat?

In general, no… it doesn’t feel awkward. I find it flattering that people are interested in my family. I was totally overwhelmed by how excited and happy people were for me when I met Ellen and we had Elliot. I think part of that might be rooted in the fact that for a long time the comic documented a lot of my dating which (as it is for most people) a nightmare handicapped by the fact that I spent most of my early twenties with my head planted firmly up my butt.

There have been occasions where it’s made Ellen and I uncomfortable, but more often it’s been nothing but nice.
