sketchbook: things that scared me as a kid, part two

My family used to have this Halloween window decoration: a cheapie cut-out picture of Dracula. It was pretty innocuous during the daytime, but at night, it scared the hell out of me! I would stare at it and give myself the heebie-jeebies.

Mind you, I still made my mother hang it in my room every Halloween… because I guess I kind of liked being scared.

  1. I’ve been an RSS follower/fan for a couple years–as a fellow English teacher, I get a real kick out of many of your pieces. Thanks!

Stop by this post if you like–I’ve tagged you for a blog award! http://readingontheftrain.blogspot.com/2011/10/what-was-i-just-saying-about-this.html

Wow, thanks Jess! I have to confess, I don’t really know much about blog awards, but I’m honored that you’d nominate me for one!

As an aside, I love the name of your blog. When I lived in Brooklyn, I lived off 15th Street and worked at a school off the York Street stop. I spent many a commute on the F Train, reading or sketching passengers.
