ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on November 30, 2014 by Christopher Pearce

After overwhelming requests this past week, I’m going to begin posting daily links to the day’s comic on my Twitter feed.

If you have a Twitter feed of your own, please feel free to follow me at@capearce81. It’ll be all of the same content you get here on the WordPress blog, but I also do a lot of non-teacher tweeting over there… mainly about the TV shows my wife and I are watching, or books I’m reading.

Again, if you’re following the comic here, thank you so much. I’m trying to get my work out there in as many avenues as possible and I think this will be a good step toward that.

Holy WOW!

A big huge THANK YOU to the anonymous donor who bought these books off of my Amazon Teacher Wish List. My students are going to love these!

Here’s my Wish List, if you were interested in becoming a hero like this wonderful person! There’s a bunch of new books and supplies on there awaiting your charity:)

A happy Thanksgiving/Turkey Day to all!

MST3Kturkeyday

Ah yes, it’s that time of year… the bird is slowly cooking in the oven, oversized balloons of popular cartoon characters are bouncing down 34th Street, and I’m preparing to gorge on an entire day of Mystery Science Theater 3000 in honor of that greatest of geek holidays – Turkey Day.

Turkey Day was a regular fixture of my Thanksgivings growing up. I was a tremendous fan of MST3K and the prospect of having a whole day of it at my fingertips was incredible. The Turkey Day festivities fell to the wayside when the show moved to The SciFi Channel, but that’s never stopped me from programming my own Turkey Day from old VHS cassettes and more recently, online streaming options (including the online revival at MST3KTurkeyDay.com).

So, if you’ll indulge me, behind the cut are my Turkey Day plans. Wishing everyone a very happy and enjoyable Thanksgiving today!

Here’s what I’m talking about, if you missed the fun yesterday…

To say today was overwhelming would be an understatement.

Welcome to all new readers! I’m hopeful you’ll stick around – there’s years worth of content in the archives and I’ll continue to post four new comics a week. If you’re interested, I also post the same content everyday over on my Tumblr, where there’s a vibrant and awesome community of teachers at the hashtag #education. Check them out.

I’ve received a lot of comments and mail, which I appreciate. I’ll be taking the next few days to sort through it all. I hope you all won’t begrudge me a day or two to get back to you.

Some readers have written to me about the challenges of working in an inner city school relating to supplies. If you’re inclined to help, I have a teacher wish list you can peruse, as well as several DonorsChoose projects awaiting funding. Please check those out at your leisure and help if you can.

Teachable Moments on NPR

Well I’m pretty excited to tell all my readers: you can find today’s comic over at National Public Radio’s Education blog, as well as an interview with me. My comic is being included in NPR EDU’s series The Secret Lives of Teachers.

Click over there, read the comic and the interview… and if you could do me a solid, leave a comment over on NPR’s blog. I’d love for them to see this strip has an audience!
