It does bum me out that this new (sort of ridiculously planned) testing cycle has mucked with my favorite unit of study.

I draw a picture of myself on my classroom’s chalkboard everyday. I collect those pictures as camera phone photos and post them on Sundays. See the rest here.

Another abbreviated week thanks to professional development, I decided to draw myself with some Japanese animation characters in the mix.

I realize Avatar: The Last Airbender is an American-made cartoon with inspirations from anime, but I couldn’t resist drawing Aang because I really dug that show when it was first on TV.

There’s a lot more to it than these two panels, but I wanted to address some of the financial stuff I brushed up against in some of my comics last September. I know talking about the economics of being a teacher will likely make some angry (“He only works eight months a year!” they’ll growl) but it’s a reality I have to accept and figure out a way to deal with. More on this as it comes.

I did play a lot of Trivia Crack over the break with my students. My username is capearce81 and if anybody out there wants to have a go, I’m up for it. I’m pretty good on 5/6ths of the question types.

Teacher Comics: It’s the same

First comic of 2015, everyone! I realize we’re a little late in the month of January for a “first day back” comic but honestly, with the amount of snow days and two-hour delays my district’s been getting here in Southwest Ohio, it’s almost like we haven’t been fully back in business yet.

I’m going to be for my readers’ patience over the next few weeks – I’ve just invested in a brand new computer and scanner. The next month or so are hopefully going to be learning experiences where I figure out the best ways to scan and present these comics. I had a fairly OK system on my old iMac but that beast was over 10 years old. Getting used to the new bells and whistles of this technology will likely take some time.
