“This week” is code for “last week,” which is when the majority of these comics were drawn. They were drawn, in fact, DURING the OGT testing time, for which I was a proctor along with another teacher. Two teachers, 17 students and ABSOLUTELY NO use of electronic devices equalled a lot of productivity for me, sketchbook wise!

I have kind of a love/hate relationship with Powerpoint. It’s a great tool that’s so easy to abuse. I’ve been trying to figure out more interactive ways to use Powerpoint in class that don’t just amount to “Here’s the notes, copy them while I scroll through the slides.” I have some cool ideas that I’m looking forward to trying out in the next few weeks.

I did a similar comic to this last year. Oh well!

Sorry about the first panel. My kids smacked me while I was doing some inking.

Someday soon, I should do a comic about my students and social media. I have some tales I can tell.

I was hoping to pull off some kind of “preppy villain from a 1980’s teen movies” but no.

Teacher Comics: Tales from the Ripped

I know you can say I protest too much, but I want to make it super clear: my pants pocket snagged on a desk in a weird way. I am not quite at a regular pants-ripping size. This was just an unfortunate thing.

Of course, a tip of the hat to EC Comics’ Tales from the Crypt in the first panel. For a minute I considered really aping some of that style and maybe trying to find the unique font EC used on all their books… but then I remembered I have about a million things going on in my life beyond this hobby and I said… y’know, this is OK. People will get the reference. I trust them.

Teacher Comics: Proverb

I’m of two minds about this comic. This is something that happened; a student actually said ┬áthis. It’s also sort of a hacky joke… and I don’t do “jokes” very often with these comics. They’re a more observational than funny.

Teacher Comics: Wardrobe Malfunction

Yes, this actually happened. The sad part is, this isn’t even the most embarrassing “wardrobe malfunction” I’ve had in the past two weeks.
