I think I’ll have a LOT more to say about the Common Core Standards Initiative but for now this’ll do.

I did a couple of Raven themed comics at the beginning of this comic, check ’em out.

2011-2012 school year: making connections

In this student’s defense, I believe I mentioned something about The Murders in the Rue Morgue. Even forgetting that, it was quite a tangent.

I remember when I first started teaching and I was pushing the idea of “making connections” on my class, I had one kid who connected EVERYTHING to the movie Saw III. Every connection he made in his journal, every connection he made in conferencing, every connection he made in small group… he connected it back to the third torture porn sequel to Saw. I cannot even imagine what that student is doing now!

I give myself a pat on the back very rarely when it comes to my scribblings here… but I’m going to say this: I think I drew a halfway decent Edgar Allan Poe. Thank you and good night.

day thirty seven.

We’re FINALLY at the end of October with these comics… which also means we’re at the end of the first quarter! I was thinking of doing a limited collection of all four semesters if interest was great enough. The first collection would likely include comics not published here and some other stuff as well. If anyone’s interested, let me know!

Edit: This comic was posted teeny small yesterday, an issue that I’ve fixed this morning. Apologies for the seven of you who had to squint to read the comic on Monday.
