2011-2012 school year: flip

The Bloggie does the job, but I’m afraid it’s no substitute for the easy-to-use and easy-to-maintain Flip. Unfortunately, I don’t think they’re making Flip cameras anymore.

2011-2012 school year: dongle heist

I love using the Selena character but I don’t know how much she’ll be in the strip going forward this year. I have big plans to use her next year, but for the time being I want to focus on my journalism class. If she only pops up here and there for the next few months as a device to move something along, I thought this was a fitting end for a new teacher- seeing they’ve gotten the hang of some of the unwritten, unacknowledged things you have to do to get by as a teacher.

You can find all the comics featuring Selena here.

You can find all the comics featuring my fancy new projector/Eno board here.

2011-2012 school year: go home

Despite the fact I am the one dispensing it, this is good, solid advice. Teachers need to go home more.

On that note… at this rolling time of the year, I take a few weeks off from posting comics about my job.

I’ve got some sketchbook pages, non-teacher comics, and student work to show ya… but teacher comics will resume in 2012.

2011-2012 school year: tap

I should mention, I sort of borrowed this story from someone. I might have made a mistake in making the “new teacher” character the one to take such bold a step… but honestly, this happened to a new teacher I know, so I figured it was OK.

2011-2012 school year: suspenders are… cool?

This one’s been drawn for awhile, but I decided to sit on it until Halloween so I could share my costume with y’all. The old bald guy character appeared in this comic a few weeks ago.

Anyone who has read this comic on a regular basis knows that last word balloon to be true!

2011-2012 school year: don’t smile before christmas

I very much doubt anyone I worked with in Brooklyn reads this… but if they do, I’m sure you all know who I’m talking about. He was and I’m sure still is INCREDIBLE. One of the top three teachers I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t think we ever had more than one or two conversations over the course of two years of employment in the NYCDOE, but man. If he’s not a running a school now, there’s no justice in the world.

2011-2012 school year: better bled than red

I’m sorry if this is too gross for people, but this incident made me laugh so hard I couldn’t not include it here.
