Hi Chris – I saw your graphic novel classroom collection on Robot 6, and found your entertaining comic strip through the link, and I just wanted to let you know that as a father of two boys who is married to a teacher, I was really inspired by your approach to teaching and your attitude towards your students. I have done a short post on my blog, and I hope that’s OK with you. You can read it here;http://www.3-dmonster.com/2010/03/i-wish-i-had-teacher-like-this.html
Keep up the good work!
I like your comics. Have you read “An Illustrated Life” by Danny Gregory? I was inspired to create a facebook group where people share their illustrated journals in a supportive community for artists at all levels. Check it out here https://www.facebook.com/groups/sketchbookers and join if you like!
your introduction to romeo&juliet was really funny! man i wish i had a english teacher like you!my teacher just makes me go to sleep, and is supper boering.
Hi Chris, love your blog and cartoons, which really offer a perspective we need to see more of out there. I teach first-generation college students in the UAE who enjoy material possessions many of your students don’t, but struggle with academic English despite being great communicators. I would love to follow your blog posts on Twitter; any chance of setting up auto-tweets from the blog? It would definitely expose your work to a wider and appreciative audience.
Christine, that’s a great idea and something I’ll look into. I didn’t want to do it on my personal Twitter feed (@capearce81) but setting up a comic-only feed is probably a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hey Christine, I just wanted to follow up with you and a lot of other people were asking – I’ve set up my Twitter feed (@capearce81) so that followers over there will get auto-tweets on the blog. Follow over there and you’ll get the comic everyday!
Chris, I just ran into your comics via NPR yesterday. I think we are leading parallel lives. I teach Language Arts in Florida, and have been drawing a comic strip about teaching for the Daytona Beach News-Journal for 14 and a half years. It’s called Mr. Fitz. I’m enjoying getting acquainted with your material, and I’m pretty jealous of your NPR piece! That is awesome. If you get a chance, check out Mr. Fitz at http://www.mrfitz.com. I think we have a lot in common.
You’re comics are great, David. Color me jealous of your being published in a newspaper – a real dream of mine! Have you ever seen Mr. Wolf? Check out http://aronnelssteinke.tumblr.com – those are some of my favorite teacher comics out there!
Chris, i’m a fellow public educator and cartoonist and was wondering if you would be interested in doing a guess cartoon/post on my website: http://www.180dayz.com. I think would be cool if we could do a cross promotion thing where you guess post a cartoon on my site and I guess post one on your site. it would help spread awareness of our work. Let me know if you’re interested and maybe we could do this soon! Shoot me an email. Thanks.
Hey Scott, thanks for getting in touch. I’m in the middle of putting together a book proposal right now for my comics so I won’t be publishing on a regular schedule anymore, but I’d be happy to add 180 Dayz to my teacher comic blog roll!
